1862 November 13 Chapel Hill, N.C.

[from the diary of Eliza Oswald Hill, refugee from Wilmington, N.C.]

Thursday Mrs Walters leaves in an hour--I dont know how I
shall get along without her--It looks cloudy this morning &
I rather think she will have rain Caroline Mallett goes with
her--I have just received a long letter from Liz--She does not
intend leaving Enfield until the Yankees frighten her away-
But she thinks Eliza & Corney Phillips will come next week--
